Doing It Differently

Having worked in HR for over a fifteen years, I've had the opportunity to see how HR is run at both large and small companies.

I've seen it done well, and quite frankly, I've seen it done poorly even more often. We often fail to take calculated risks, defer to past practice, or even worse, to “best practices” in lieu of real solutions.

HR sits at so many intersections of the human experience at work. I believe that only through being authentic: knowing ourselves, bringing our best selves to work, having those tough conversations, navigating challenging situations with humanity, and encouraging others to do so that we can truly be successful in the business of HR. 

It’s imperative that we don’t do things the same way we’ve always done them. How we respond to the challenges of today will shape the workplace now and for generations to come. HR is dead. Long live HR.
