Carlos originally hails from West Palm Beach, Florida and has lived in London, Chicago, and currently calls New York City home.

During the day, he is a Director HR Business Partner at Nordstrom, supporting the Corporate Marketing Team. Carlos has over 14 years of experience within the HR space, primarily in HR business partner and strategy roles in the media, technology, retail, and entertainment industries. With a passion for developing others and doing things differently, Carlos desires to shake up the HR of the past and help usher in the HR of the future.

The firstborn of a pair of Puerto Rican parents, Carlos regularly finds himself at the intersection of gay, Boricua, Latinx, “immigrant,” genderqueer, Christian, and so much more, which has helped him shape his outlook on work and life.

During his free time, Carlos may be seen performing with the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus and its acappella subgroup, TONEWALL, or as his drag alter ego Miss Portia Control. He is also one of the co-hosts of "This QPOC Life" podcast which looks at life through the lens of a queer person of color.
